Our ESG Journey

Our Commitment to Sustainable and Responsible Growth

• In 2023, we embarked on our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) journey in collaboration with Capital Concept SAL, with the support of the USAID-funded Trade and Investment Facilitation (TIF) project. This initiative positioned Arope among the first 100 companies in Lebanon working toward ESG certification.

• Since then, we have embedded ESG principles into both our short-term and long-term strategies, with several initiatives already implemented and others currently underway.

• We are taking part of the Green House Gas Emission tracking initiative, launched by the Ministry of Environment, further reinforcing our dedication to environmental protection, and contributing to a greener and healthier future for generations to come.

ESG Statement

We, at Arope, seek to lead the evolution of the insurance industry by adopting more sustainable business practices, reducing our impact on the environment, and fortifying customer loyalty.

We also strive to refine our social responsibility by fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion and building a high-performing engaged workforce.

All this, while applying an effective corporate governance into all aspects of our business, which we believe is the foundation in following through on our commitments to Excellence.

A-   Our key pledges to the Environment include the following:

• Minimize Waste & Land Contamination through the collaboration with Arc-en Ciel and IT equipment recycling companies. Moreover, Arope has banned all plastic bottles and replaced plastic utensils with wooden ones.

• Minimize Pollution by reducing electricity generation through fossil fuel burning by installing solar panels, motion detection lights, shifting to solar panels for electricity generation. Additionally, we opted to reduce paper consumption through the implementation of e-policies and/or General conditions accessible through QR codes

• Reduce Water Consumption & minimize releases of harmful components into wastewater through the use of biodegradable detergents and installation of water meters.

Every Green Action Counts!

Here are some of the initiatives we implemented in the workplace to reduce our CO2 footprint, combat climate change and contribute to a greener future:

·        Collected 260 kg of recyclable material in two months

·        Shifted to electric motorcycles to reduce CO2 footprint

·        Swapped plastic spoons with biodegradable material and single-use plastic cups with reusable glass bottles

·        Reduced electricity consumption by using LED lights and sensors 

·        Generated 140 MW in 14 months 

·        Switched to ecofriendly detergents

·        Conducted environmental awareness sessions for Arope Staff  

B-    We are committed to creating positive Social impact through:

• Human Capital: We promote fair employee relations, safe working conditions, continuous development, and ethical labor standards across our workforce, in line with labor laws, internal policies, and supplier codes of ethics.

• Product Responsibility: We ensure that our products are in compliance with Lebanese regulations, protect customer data through robust privacy and security standards, and integrate responsible investment principles into our decision-making.

• We maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders and communities, supporting initiatives that enhance trust, transparency, and long-term societal value.

C-    Our Governance framework is designed to promote transparency, accountability, and sound decision-making across the organization:

• Board of Directors: Arope’s Board is composed of executive, non-executive, and independent members, ensuring balanced and effective decision-making. While certain authorities may be delegated to management, the Board retains full oversight and control.

• Executive Management Committee: This committee meets regularly to ensure effective execution of the strategic objectives set by the Board, providing leadership and operational alignment to achieve defined targets.

We remain fully committed to complying with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, as well as the requirements of the ESG Stewardship Program.
